Ms. Cohen has resided in Las Vegas since her family relocated to the valley in 1972. Ms. Cohen continued her education in Nevada when she attended the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). While at UNR, Ms. Cohen was active in student government including her service as the Multi-cultural Chair of the Student Programming Committee. Ms. Cohen received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1993. Seeking exposure to international human rights law, Ms. Cohen attended DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Illinois. In addition to her studies, Ms. Cohen worked on the United Nations database of war crimes in the Former Yugoslavia as part of DePaul Professor and Nobel Peace Prize nominee M. Cherif Bassiouni’s investigation efforts on behalf of the UN. After receiving her Juris Doctor in 1996, Ms. Cohen was admitted to practice law in Nevada and in Utah (currently inactive), and she is admitted to the U. S. District Courts for Nevada and Utah.
Throughout her career, Ms. Cohen has predominately practiced in the field of family law. However, Ms. Cohen has experience in adult and juvenile criminal practice, construction defect and civil practice.
Ms. Cohen is an active volunteer inside and out of the legal community. Ms. Cohen is a member of the Clark County Bar Association Continuing Legal Education Committee which produces continuing legal education courses for attorneys. Recently, Ms. Cohen was appointed to the State Bar of NV Member Benefits & Services Committee. In addition, Pro Bono services are very important to Ms. Cohen as she regularly participates in the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada’s Ask-A-Lawyer program and volunteers with the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada as a pro bono attorney for indigent clients. Outside of the legal community, Ms. Cohen assists retired racing greyhounds to find permanent homes as the Vice President of Greyhound Pet Adoptions Las Vegas. In her spare time, Ms. Cohen enjoys yoga and spending time with her family.
